Suspicious Mind

Suspicious Mind poemDay-break on the thirteenth. A Friday

Outside at 07-00 it is dark

The dog is curled in her warm-blooded languor

Foot steps in the kitchen don’t speak of menace

On the side of this page, six words

Descending say; guns, mirrors, coffee

Why?

I opened this page expecting greed

And found history of a sort

Blank space around the forms

The letters suggesting some intelligence

Words formed from the tug of war

Another three; flash-back, case-study, mystery

Completed their intellectual asymmetry

In my cocoon the words are weightless

Stray bullets struggling to compare

War with peace

Or anything else you may dare to think
