.. to take a leap of faith

Boys at play

beyond

imagine it. just beyond

the fledgling on a ledge

deep space beyond and more

that miasma of fear which constricts

every tissue and fibre and

unknowable thing

from taking a leap of faith

brother, sister, mother, father, friend

watch over me for I am one

who knows how it feels to stall mid-flight

at that precipice

and court the most unholy thoughts

to allow any manner of darkness in

but in my heart and in my soul

I know I am here because

the ones before me took that leap

they loved me

and I will honour them

Crows feet

Crows feet

a bird lays a line against

the blue or grey circumference of doubt

for the sky, it’s sheets draw inexorably

toward the night

and that absence of light

that pulls a curtain on the day

Deep space will offer it’s dome

to those of us who oblige the moon

obeying rituals and cycles

we have come to know

amid those rumours of your day

that heaven steers toward the pillow

The waking dreams will flap

 like washing on a line

hoping to succumb

 to tenderness

in the still and calm of sleep

In that orbit of the resting eye

the universe is brave, unbounded

by superstition

until the day intrudes again

to support some foolish notion of flight.

A seconds’ thought

A seconds thought

A seconds’ thought

Morning meditation

Can be disruptive

When questions crowd in

And clamour at the roots of sanity

For doubt is the great divider

Allowing me to enquire

Just as the child once did

Why?

For all that I have seen

And everything I think I know

Is awash

Dampened by doubt

That will fret and pull

And make nervous the certainties

Handed down through histories

Woven into me

So, a new day is born

Another unit in my shifting passage

My chance to honour meaning

Salute the depth

The gravity of being
